CONGRATULATIONS to our Round 1 Elkhart Community Care Fund Recipients! You can still nominate your organization thru October 17th!

Beacon Health Foundation

The Foundation will use their contribution to provide teddy bears to be distributed through their Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room and Pediatric Post-Op Departments at Elkhart General Hospital.

Elkhart Education Foundation

Their contribution will go toward “EdCamp,” a program that provides childcare, e-learning support and enrichment for Elkhart community Schools students on the days they do not attend school.

Elkhart Public Library

The library’s contribution will support their “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” initiative. The program will provide books, flashcards, growth charts and most importantly – a network of encouragement to new parents as they leave the hospital with their newborn.

Ribbon of Hope

Each year, Ribbon of Home addresses the spiritual, emotional and practical needs of adult cancer patients and their families. The contribution they are receiving today will help them continue to provide emergency care boxes to patients, many of them delivered directly to their homes during the current health crisis.

LaCasa

LaCasa will use their funds to support their “Financial Empowerment Center” programs. In February LaCasa opened an office on Main Street in Elkhart to provide services and deliver classes closer to clients with transportation barriers. With the onset of the pandemic they moved their newly redesigned financial classes, online, reaching even more households.

Riverview Adult Day Health Center

Riverview serves seniors and special needs citizens by providing daily activities and events while at the same time offering respite for caregivers and helping individuals to continue to live at home. Their funds will be used to purchase additional activity supplies.

Susanna’s Kitchen

Susanna’s Kitchen has been serving the homeless in Elkhart for 38 years. They have continued to serve through Covid-19, despite their elderly volunteers having to stay home and donations dwindling due to church closures. The funds they receive will help them to continue to provide much-needed meal.
