A good hot cocoa mix is a wintertime staple. Within minimal ingredients, you can avoid the processing of premade packets. You probably have many, if not all, of these ingredients in your pantry and can whip this up in a jiffy. Plus, homemade always tastes better.

Give your family that special indulgent treat on a cold winters day.

Homemade Hot Cocoa, 2 servings
2 cups milk of choice (choose skim for a low fat option)
2 Tbsp. pure cocoa powder
2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Heat milk in a small saucepot on the stove over low heat. Slowly whisk in cocoa powder, maple syrup and vanilla extract until well combined. Serve warm and top with marshmallows or a peppermint stick.

If you like extra frothy hot cocoa, throw this mixture into a food processor after heating and blend.

Be Well,

Kristin
